Indigenous Ministry Initiative
Pastor Wayne Alcorn, President of Australian Christian Churches, has put indigenous ministry on the national agenda. The initiative aims to see state and local church leaders develop ministry with (not to) our indigenous brothers and sisters in cities, towns and the remote areas of Australia. As individual churches, our local churches and communities are first priority. As a national movement of churches, our own national cultures are our first priority in mission and that includes our indigenous communities.
Visitation is a key success factor to the growing indigenous community in City Church. In 2008, we ran The Deadly Experience, an event celebrating indigenous culture that earned significant appreciation from the community. We are also partnered with Youth Alive and their Mobilise 1000 initiative.
For more information on the national initiative, write to indigenous@acc.org.au.
